Week 2 - Session 4 - MS Excel Part I

In this beginner-level course you will be introduced to the fundamentals of Excel. We will cover the Excel interface, then goes into how to create new workbooks, add and format numbers and text, work with basic formulas and functions, and leverage key features such as AutoFill, which allows you to quickly fill new cells using existing cells where there is a pattern. He shows you how to freeze columns and rows, insert charts, use Copilot to generate AI-powered insights, quickly share your spreadsheets with others, and more.

Lesson Objectives

  • Define what Excel is and understand its primary functions for storing, organizing, and manipulating data.
  • Explain the process of entering data into cells and using columns and rows to organize data.
  • Demonstrate how to run calculations using formulas and functions in Excel.
  • Identify common mathematical operations and analytical tools available in Excel.
  • Describe the steps to create and save Excel workbooks, and access recently used files.
  • Prepare and organize data within a workbook by adding, editing, and formatting text and numbers.
